　　保罗纽曼主演的成名作，是美国拳王洛基卡斯安诺的列传电影，也是一流的拳击行动片，仆人翁身世自纽约的一贫困家庭，父亲曾胡想成为职业拳手而不成得，过著庸庸碌碌的生活。他对整天打架闹事的儿子洛基完全不抱希望，父子之间甚至堕入一种相互憎恨的活结当中。不意洛基在军中为主座欣赏，激励他往职业拳坛成长，最初浪子回头成为拳王，也解开了与父亲之间的心结，明天看来本片的叙事手法只算中规中矩，但导演罗伯特．怀斯刻画配角的逆叛性情相当做功。处置节奏亦开朗轻盈，加上保罗．纽曼具有生气的表演，在四十年看来仍很有味道。
