简　　介  

　　杰妮是一位容貌出众的姑娘，在萨尔的帮助下，她分开了杂耍团，和萨尔结伴来到了纽约，想在百老汇追求新的成长。在百老汇，杰妮以其出众的容貌和特此外措辞方式，让著名的戏剧指导尼尔斯夫人破例收留了她，并在随后的表演中逐步走红。成功后的杰妮在导演布鲁克斯的率领下，起头收支上流社会，由此也染上了酗酒的恶习。随着杰妮名望的不竭增大，媒体中起头传播着一些关于杰妮欠好的传闻。对此，面临萨尔的提醒和警告，杰妮不单置若罔闻，而且还分开了萨尔与乔那结了婚。
　　一个偶然的机遇，杰妮熟悉了演员迪斯蒙，并答应为她帮手。不想杰妮拿过迪斯蒙的剧本后，自己出演了其中的配角，并又一次获得庞大的成功。迪斯蒙是以落空机遇而跳楼自杀，这让杰妮今后处于惊骇与不安当中，以致于在另一部新剧的首演上因恐惧而晕倒。今后，杰妮被演员协会迫令不得出演于正规的舞台。未几，杰妮因意志低沉而仰药自杀，给观众留下的是由她主演、且风行全美的一部话剧《雨》。
