　　格雷汉姆·海斯（梅尔·吉布森 MelGBson 饰）是美国费城某小镇上一个普通的农场主，一天早上醒来，他和家人意外的发现自己的玉米田里出现了几个一串串牢牢连结在一路的庞大环状奥秘图案。这可让格雷汉姆一家受惊不小，由于玉米田里底子没有任何萍踪，看上去像是外星球人的飞船下降的痕迹。很快全天下各地都传出了一夜之间出现奥秘图案的消息，人们惊骇万分，惶惑不成整天。全国的媒体、记者和观众也都把焦点以风一般的速度转移到了这个美国南部的小镇，集合到了巴克斯郡的海斯一家。
