◎简 介
史蒂芬斯师长（安东尼·霍普金斯 Anthony Hopkins饰）是一个忠厚的家丁，他已经当过英国著名爵侯的管家。今朝正专心致志打理新仆人达林顿勋爵的公馆，成为这里的大管家。
这里来了一个女管家基顿（艾玛·汤普森 Emma Thompson饰），她精明能干，筹划起家务来比史蒂芬斯更灵活，开初斯蒂芬斯经常与她有些小冲突。可是随着相处日子渐长，善良的基顿还是悄悄感动了史蒂芬斯。虽然基顿频频吐露真情，举手投足间泄露了爱意。可是每到动情关头，史蒂芬斯都哑忍着自己的感情，对基顿的爱化作一段藏匿在寂静中的故事。
基顿忍痛离别这段无果之爱，远走异乡嫁为人妇。那时光荏苒，二人再次会面，心里的爱意仍然说不出口，浓浓忖量化作车站作此外一句祝愿。
