◎简 介
朗（汤姆?克鲁斯 Tom 饰）自幼就是一个争强好胜的男孩，向往男人汉的生活。年轻的朗被总统那潘那番布满煽惑性的越战演说完全征服，一种应战和为国牺牲的感动在朗的心里渐渐滋生。一次摔跤角逐的失利，令一向要强的他决然离别了情人唐娜和大门生活，踏上了从军参战之路。
但是，来到了越南的朗并没有在这里找到向往已久的豪杰气概，反而目击一出出反人类的悲剧。朗的好友威尔逊也在一次混战中死于朗的子弹，未几，朗中弹瘫痪被送回了美国。
坐在轮椅上的朗仍然对峙着对美国策动的战争的信仰，但女友唐娜重遇了朗以后，痛心的以为朗的悲剧都是战争的错。噩梦缠绕着朗，朗去拜祭了战友威尔逊，反战呼声中，朗终究醒觉。
