数学教师亚瑟（托尼·夏尔赫布 Tony Shalhoub 饰）的生活在妻子死于火灾后境变得糟糕。某日，亚瑟忽然得悉其叔叔赛瑞斯将一所大宅作为遗产留给了他，因而亚瑟和女儿凯西（莎诺·伊丽莎白 Shannon Elizabeth 饰）、儿子巴比以及保姆四人搬入了奢华的宅邸，正当他们为居处的舒适感慨时，一位不速之客丹尼斯（马修·里沃德 Matthew Lillard 饰）向他们发出警告，本来丹尼斯具有通灵才能，已经和赛瑞斯一路同伴捉鬼，而赛瑞斯捉鬼的目标，乃是按照古书指引，建造一所用十三鬼魂作为能源，具有预知才能的装备“恶魔之眼”。这所豪宅的实在脸孔即是赛瑞斯的灵媒装备，亚瑟等人被困在其中，眼看要做为叫醒恶魔的活人献祭……
