.导演迪恩·德布洛斯心中最棒的续集电影是《星球大战2：帝国还击战 》，他称此片为他拍《驯龙高手2》的灵感源泉。
.导演迪恩·德布洛斯以为大大都动画片续集都没有存在的意义，当梦工场希望他执导时他间接告诉CEO杰弗里·卡森伯格，避免题目标最好法子是把男配角嗝嗝的故事打形成三部曲，否则他不会接手。
.《驯龙高手》上映后一个月后梦工场就计划拍续集，建造周期整整四年。
.《驯龙高手2》总共启用30-40名动画技师，不外在冲刺完成影片的最初几个月剧组必须借用人材，最高时有50名动画技师同时建造影片。
.导演迪恩·德布洛斯在2011年奥斯卡颁奖仪式上找到凯特·布兰切特并告诉她在《驯龙高手2》中有一个为她量身打造的脚色。布兰切特暗示很是感爱好，由于她的孩子们很是喜好《驯龙高手》。
