◎简　　介　
　　受法官塔萍（阿伦`瑞克曼）谗谄，被迫放逐异乡15年的陶德（约翰尼`德普）回到伦敦后，满心的怒火，只想复仇。他的妻子露西（劳拉`凯利）已经不知所踪，而女儿乔安娜（珍妮`怀森纳）则被塔萍作为养女软禁在深宅大院里。

　　约翰尼·德普和蒂姆·波顿第6次联手打造，将斯蒂芬·桑德海姆(Stephen Sondheim)创作的曾获得无数奖项的音乐惊悚剧《剃头师陶德》搬上了大银幕。说起这个自己亲手缔造的音乐剧中半虚拟、半实在的人物斯温尼·陶德时，桑德海姆暗示：“我以为，与‘斯温尼·陶德’有关的故事之所以可以延续长达150年之久，自然与它是个不会由于时候而褪色的好作品有关，全部故事报告的都是有关复仇所引发的连锁反应，终极，复仇的快感吞噬了斯温尼·陶德的明智，让他发了疯。如此看来，它应当是一个具有着典范的传统气概的悲剧，报告的是一个追求复仇的人，终极却以摧毁自己作为终局。”
　　影片的制片人之一沃尔特·帕克斯(Walter Parkes)补充道：“究竟的真相就在于，原著舞台剧在曩昔的50时候里，确切一向占据着耸峙不倒的巨大职位，没有比这更能说明题目标了。成就‘斯温尼·陶德’的不但仅是那些让人毛骨悚然的谋杀和复仇，还有‘永失我爱’的疾苦。那种感受就似乎是我们最暴力的一面，实在是由最懦弱的自我激发出来的，这些特质不竭地发生剧烈地抵触，终极培养了具有压服一切气力的血腥暴力。”

　　即使这里有些人宣称历史上真的有斯温尼·陶德这号人物的存在，而且是发生在18世纪的伦敦160起谋杀案的真凶，不外，人们似乎更能接管他身份上的虚组成份。斯温尼·陶德第一次以无形的实体出现，是在由托马斯·帕基特·普雷斯特(Thomas Peckett Prest)创作的一个名叫《一串珍珠：一段恋爱》(The String of Pearls：　A Romance)的故事中，颁发于1846年11月号的《人物》杂志上。据传闻，当来剃头的客人坐在椅子上接管办事的时辰，陶德会用剃刀切断他们的喉咙，将他们喷着鲜血的尸身间接扔进通往地窖的通道傍边，在那边，这些尸身会被切开，然后由他多情的爪牙内尔·洛薇特夫人接手，做成人肉馅饼，卖给历来不曾对此发生过思疑的客人们。
　　差不多一年今后，托马斯·帕基特·普雷斯特的故事被改编成了一部舞台剧，具有了一个单调到有点让人腻烦的名字，《舰队街上的魔鬼剃头师》(The Demon Barber of Fleet Street)，未几以后，陶德的申明散乱就被别的一个扬名19世纪的伦敦系列杀人犯--开膛手杰克取代了！
