◎简 介
翠丝（谢琳·伍德蕾 Shailene Woodley 饰）和老四（提奥·詹姆斯 Theo James 饰）的分歧者身份在表露后，无一破例地遭到了控制着军队和政权的博学派带领人珍宁·马修斯（凯特·温丝莱特 Kate Winslet 饰）的追杀。翠丝的怙恃为了庇护她，被珍宁 控制的无畏派杀戮了。
翠丝和老四在逃往别的派系追求庇护的同时，也尽力在友爱派、老实派、无私派和无畏派里寻觅同盟，以期破坏珍宁的诡计，颠覆她的统治。与此同时，已经处于派系系统最底层的无派系阵营雄师突起，成为了抵挡珍宁统治不成或缺的气力，而这个阵营的首领居然是老四本以为已经归天多年的母亲伊芙琳（娜奥米·沃茨 Naomi Watts 饰）。
但这群试图颠覆珍宁统治的“叛逆者”并没有立即结合起来，老四思疑他母亲的实在目标，翠丝和老四之间也有了越来越多的奥秘。与此同时，翠丝发现身为无私派的怙恃居然负担着一个奥秘使命，这个奥秘正是珍宁急切想获得的，也是她追杀分歧者的缘由。为了避免更多人遭到危险，也为了庇护她身旁的朋友和爱人，翠丝孤身前往博学派总部，试图操纵分歧者的身份揭开这个庞大的奥秘。在与珍宁的匹敌中，翠丝不能不面临自己心里最深的恐惧，以及一个接一个几近不成能完成的应战。而当这个奥秘终究被翠丝揭开时，一切人材发现，本来这只是故事的起头……
