　　退伍甲士李长江（刘德华 饰）被两名抢劫的战友扳连入狱，他受尽差人毛朝阳（徐锦江 饰）毒打后被判正法刑，临刑当口，长江用父亲给他的锯片侥幸逃走……长江找到人蛇团体偷渡到香港，于路结识了鸡心（莫少聪 饰）、阿满（李美凤 饰），阿满姑娘的善良深深感动了长江。因香港的亲戚拒绝接收长江，他只能在工地为人蛇团体头子良哥工作还账，时代长江听说阿满被卖为妓女，昼夜思考搭救方式，长江孤身力拼皮条帮派不敌，只得在良哥先容下帮助湖南帮老迈沙皮卓掠夺金店，以此借助帮派气力搭救阿满。同在沙皮卓手下出力的鸡心在掠夺金店时几乎被擒，长江搭救他今后两人结为莫逆。长江帮沙皮卓掠夺后对方并未实行许诺，反而用阿满强逼长江继续犯罪，同时毛朝阳为了抓捕长江特地赴港……
