　　稳重的钢琴家保罗（Matila Malliarakis 饰）相逢郁闷的低音提琴手伊利尔（Guillaume Gouix 饰），一见倾慕的两人爱得天雷勾动地火。保罗分开自己的女友，伊利尔放弃了独居生活，他们搬进一间小公寓，性情和爱好悬殊的两人因相互相爱而满足。直到有天伊利尔要保罗立誓会爱他一 生一世，然后分开城市去加入一个音乐会，今后消息全无。残暴的分手和期待让保罗逐步顺应了没有益尔的日子。等到伊利尔走出牢狱冰冷的四壁，已经事过境迁。即使两民气中残留着昔日的悸动，却已没法再回头......
　　
　　本片是比利时导演大卫·兰伯特（David Lambert）自编自导的第一部剧情长片，报告年轻钢琴家与低音提琴手共谱浪漫恋曲，但幸运时光却因一场突如其来的意外而中断、徒留遗憾的故事。大学时主修说话与罗马文学的大卫·兰伯特，在正式成为导演前是当地颇具盛名的编剧，2009年因初次执导微电影获奖而申明远播。《四壁之外》入围第65届戛纳电影节国际影评人周单元。
