　　影片依照《一千零一夜》故事集的形式，以一个大故事带出多少小故事。
　　女奴苏玛洛获得挑选仆人的自在，她选了穷小子阿拉丁，教给他爱的欢畅，并给他念了一个书上的故事：国王祭奠出游，国王的墨客弟弟找到三个少男寻觅欢乐，国王和王后别离选中一个少男一个少女，令他们堕入爱河。
　　很快，妒忌的仆从主找上门来，抢走了苏玛洛。阿拉丁急得快要发狂了，一其中年女报酬了获得阿拉丁，帮他找到苏玛洛，却被强盗鬼使神差劫走。苏玛洛用计逃走，并被一个小城邦奉为天命国王，她一面寻觅阿拉丁，一面向绑架自己的人和强盗报了仇。
　　阿拉丁先被两个修女掳走玩弄，又被一个女人雇去做工，女人向阿拉丁念了个故事。所罗门王子塔尤索狩猎时碰到一个年轻人，向他报告了自己堕入狂爱最初才发现真爱就在身旁的悲剧故事。塔尤索发现年轻人身旁有一张公主的锦帕，因而放弃自己的王子身份，两人一路去追求公主。
　　公主经常梦见雌鸟落入网内雄鸟单独飞走的梦乡，对求婚的汉子深恶痛疾。塔尤索买通园丁，雇人在园中作画。两个画匠向王子报告了各自的故事：一个为救魔鬼劫掳的公主而被酿成猩猩，在另一位公主捐躯相救之下才规复原身；另一个在神的旨意下出海，扑灭了在海上制造灾难的“铜骑士”，却在神意指引下无意中杀掉无辜少年作为牺牲。塔尤索终究完成了花园的重建，公主意到凤凰于飞的画面，心中的忧愁尽去，两人得享幸运。苏玛洛也找到了阿拉丁，阿拉丁在惊奇当中见到国王脱下衣服酿成自己的苏玛洛，两人历尽艰难终究幸运。
