简　　介  

　　年届不惑的女子伊琳诺·兰斯（莉莉·泰勒 Lili Taylor 饰）生活一塌糊涂，她牺牲自己的幸运，十几年里悉心照顾得病在床的母亲。母亲归天后，妹妹简（Virginia Madsen 饰）又图谋夺取她的房产。穷途末路之时，伊琳诺从报纸上看到一则失眠研讨所的自愿者征询广告，受征询金额的吸引，她决议报名加入。与之异同应征的还有西奥·多娜（凯瑟琳·泽塔·琼斯 Catherine Zeta-Jones 饰）与卢克·桑德森（Owen Wilson 饰），在倡议人马洛教授（连姆·尼森 Liam Neeson 饰）的率领下，他们来到了一座建成已有上百年的庄园。
　　该庄园不但历史悠久，而且曾发生过无数奥秘的灭亡事务。这里诡异阴森的氛围让伊琳诺等人倍感不安，而各类希奇古怪的事务也让他们发生不祥的预见。似乎，莫大的危险正在前方期待着他们……
