　　本片报告了三位仆人公为保卫已经工作过的芝加哥社区，努力于阻止暴力事务的动人故事。电影的配角“暴力阻断者”们都为一个叫做“停火”（CeaseFire）的创新性机构办事。该构造由风行病学家Gary Slutkin创建，他以为暴力的传布就像疾病传布一样，所以治疗方式就应当追踪受沾染最深的，找到泉源并将之消灭。由于阻断者自己的履历，他们在社区有很是高的可信度，他们的使命就是介入抵触当中，在工作演酿成大范围暴力事务之前将其停止。可是在阻止暴力的进程中，阻断者们也有着道德上的困惑和纠结。他们介入的敌对双方都是熟悉的朋友，他们可以体味人们的疾苦，但却必须阻止他们由于疾苦而倡议的抵挡。
　　本片拍摄时候长达一年，集合反应了芝加哥成为全国暴力意味的那段时候。那时，全部城市暴力犯罪频出，最颤动的就是Derrion Albert案，一个芝加哥高中门生被殴打致死，暴力进程被全程摄录下来。
