《鹬》片长为6分钟，为皮克斯2016动画长片《海底总带动2》的前贴片，报告了一只饥饿的小矶鹬（sandpiper，一种海鸟），尽力克服恐水症，到海浪肆虐的沙滩上寻食的故事。这部短片由皮克斯新一代的动画人Alan Barillaro导演，创意准备加上建造前前后后大约花了三年时候。
Alan Barillaro谈到本片的创意，说这是他在爱莫利维尔市皮克斯片厂四周的海滩跑步时发生的，那时他看到很多鸟在海面捕食，但不会碰到浪。这个观察让他立即发生灵感，一部从鸟的视角看天下的短片就此诞生。
