　　挺拔独行、技术高明的杀手杰克（乔治·克鲁尼 George Clooney饰）来到意大利乡下的一座故乡小镇，筹算履行完此次使命后金盆洗手——为女杀手组装一支公用步枪。在这相对简单安静的情况里，原本低调谨慎的杰克出乎料想的与当地居民建立了深厚的友谊。不但如此，他还相逢了美丽的妓女克莱拉（薇奥兰特·普拉西多 Violante Placido饰），一段浪漫的恋爱由此展开。但是，这杀手生活中的最初一次使命，却远没有设想中的简单。
