导演论述
1984年，我拍摄了《胡思乱想》，我感觉那部电影在那时描画了我们的生活；而《零点定理》就是一部描画我们现在生活的电影。Pat Rushin的剧本启发了我的神经和触感。是什么让我们的生活成心义而且使人幸运？我们能在这个联系得越来越慎密的天下里独善其身么？我们能否是被操纵的人？我试着把一部电影拍摄得风趣、滑稽、自但是且美丽、惊人。这是一部简单的电影，报告的是人类最底子的感情体验——对恋爱的追求、对意义的诘问，以及对自己生命的体验。影片中有很棒的表演和分歧凡响的人物。我希望，这部电影是一部人们不常看到的电影——这里面没有僵尸、没有披着斗篷的十字军，更没有异形——对于最初一点，我不敢打包票。这几十年以来，我没有拍摄过这么小投资的电影，所以我被迫工作得很快，而且很多决议是凭仗直觉做出的。在拍摄时代，我一向都有金钱和时候上的压力。在这类情况下，这部电影布满了奇思妙想的创意和各类惊人的情节——实在，最初的成果，连我也震动了。能介入到《零点定理》的拍摄当中，我自己也感遭到很侥幸。
