　　本片以上世纪六十年月的当地家庭为主轴，经过成员的际遇，带出早期的甘榜生活以及后来的组屋生活，剧情横跨数十年。
　　电影也将表现新加坡若何从一个以方言为支流说话的社会演酿成华语到现今英语的进程，从中回首流失的方言。它也会融入导演的很多亲身履历，并将安插多首怀旧歌曲。
◎幕后揭秘
　　导演梁智强以为，50年对一个国家来说不算悠久，甚至可以说，底子就是一个年轻的国家，可是对于天下上绝无唯一的新加坡人来说，50年是冗长的。很多工作，在忙碌和快节奏的生活里，大师正逐一的忘到六根清净。他想透过现在的先辈拍摄技术和电脑动画率领大师回到逐步消失的那些甘榜印象，那些已经陪伴我们的甘榜（村落）小路、椰林、蕉叶、小溪萍池还有那些必必要到里面才可以玩的游戏等，在新加坡庆贺50年确当儿，大师可以聚在一路，个人回忆。
