　　山姆?斯塔泽克和警校结业生，结业后与养父一样当上了差人。刚加入工作未几，就发生了连续串差人被杀事务，而凶手看上去都象是普通市民。虽然他很是悔恨这类冷血杀戮行为，却不愿意利用自己特别的“才能”去阻止犯罪的发生。但是，当他的同伴被杀后，他不能不利用自己的“才能”了。经过对凶手尸身的剖解，他发现有人在做一种疯狂的外科手术，经过在人的耳鼓上刺微孔到达对人的控制目标，把他们酿成杀手。现在，山姆必须争分夺秒挖出这个幕先人，否则就会有更多的差人遇害。
