　　丰富经历的巴黎警探皮耶（让·雷诺 Jean Reno 饰）来到大学城侦察被绞杀的尸身高悬在山崖上的古怪命案。经过一番观察后尼芒斯发现：这所著名学府历史悠久，人材 辈出，但校方为了推行精英看法，竟让教职员间世代通婚。与此同时，布满冲劲确当地年轻差人麦斯（文森特·卡索 Vincent Cassel 饰）则在小教堂清查20年前奥秘失落的少女，有人入侵了十八年前死于车祸的十岁女孩朱迪丝的墓室，并在那边涂画纳粹标志。看似孤立的两起案件却有着内在联系，因而两个办案气概大异其趣的人不能不酿成同伴，联手侦破其中的奥秘。经过层层抽丝剥茧，终究使隐藏在案件背后的真相浮出了水面。
