　　在美国和苏联两大强权冷战时代，苏联采纳了一个奥秘的电话洗脑的计划，将一批练习过的特务派到美国各地，然后伪装成普通老百姓，在那边过着正凡人的生活，预备在需要的时辰再将他们叫醒。但多年今后美苏两国的关系有所好转，但这批特务被一些别有专心的人用奥秘的电影电话叫醒了。为了挽回场面，苏联军方派出了一个名叫格里高利·布尔佐夫的苏联奥秘差人到美国去向置此计划酿成的灾难，而美国方面也派出了反特务专家芭芭拉辅佐布尔佐夫完成使命。在观察真相的进程中，两个身份相互敌对的人却发生了奥妙的豪情。最初他俩情愿放弃特务身份，一路过平民的生活。导演唐．西格尔以纯生手法拍出多场刺激火爆的行动排场，对于特务生活的可厌也有所表示，是查尔斯．布朗森主演的佳作之一。
