国家地理频道的《杀死耶稣》（Killing Jesus）是一部长达三小时的电视电影，也可看做一部四集迷你剧。国家地理频道杀了林肯，杀了肯尼迪，又要起头杀耶稣。在成功将纪实小说《杀死林肯》（Killing Lincoln）和《杀死肯尼迪》（Killing Kennedy）改编成列传电影后，国家地理频道于客岁3月公布改编另一本畅销纪实小说：《杀死耶稣》。现在凡是跟宗教和《圣经》沾点边的节目都是电视荧屏上的热门节目（简直可以用「热得发烫」来描述），国家地理频道的决议在道理当中。《杀死耶稣》说的是耶稣受难（被钉死在十字架上）的原由、经过和成果，已经被拍过无数次了。国家地理频道预订该项目时原版小说尚未上市（半年后才上市），如同客岁很多按照小说改编的电视节目一样，制片方提早拿到了改编权。该剧在全球171个国家利用45种说话同时播出，拍摄进程中动用了250名剧组成员和4500名姑且演员（大众演员），有台词的脚色多达93名，是国家地理频道迄今为止投入最大的一个项目。
故事起源于耶稣的诞生，那时希律王正统治朱迪亚地域的犹太人，但他始终感受自己的权利遭到威胁。希律王命令杀死所丰年数在2岁以下的婴儿，可是耶稣的家人已经带着他逃走了。26年以后，耶稣的宗教理念已经广为传播，他有了一多量虔敬的信徒。与此同时，新的政坛人物对耶稣的影响力一样感应恐惧——其中包括希律王的儿子安提帕斯和罗马委任的犹太总督彼拉多。犹太神庙中的宗教魁首该亚法和亚纳斯一样质疑耶稣传布的教义和思惟。由于使徒犹大的出售，耶稣终极遭到拘系，被钉死在十字架上。他的尸身被埋葬在一个无人看管的宅兆中。当他的跟随者数日以后前来为他的尸身施膏油时，尸身却已不知去向。「拿撒勒的耶稣」（Jesus of Nazareth）尸身究竟何在？这至今还是个千古之谜。
