简　　介  

　　善良的雅各?彼得森（麦德斯?米科尔森 饰）在印度开了一间孤儿院，努力救济无家可归的孤儿。当他的孤儿院正面临开张危机的时辰却收到了一笔来自一位叫乔真（罗夫?拉斯加德 饰）的丹麦贩子的大方捐钱。但这名贩子却附带了一个条件，他要求雅各分开印度，前往去加入他女儿的婚礼。
　　为了获得捐钱，雅各单独前往了丹麦。由于答应了孤儿院里某个孩子要为他办生日会，所以雅各也订好了回印度的路程。后来他找到了乔真，雅各发现他是个狂妄的人，而且乔真由于酗酒留下了后遗症
　　他应邀列席了婚礼，婚礼上他碰到了乔真的妻子海伦（西德斯?巴比特?科努德森 饰），即使多年没见，他们两还是认出了相互……
