格雷戈（Ben Stiller 本?斯蒂勒 饰）预备向相恋多年的女友潘米拉（Teri Polo特莉?保罗 饰）求婚时，意外得悉了求婚成功成功与否，不但要过美人关，更要过岳父关。潘米拉的姐姐下个星期行将举行婚礼，届时格雷戈将和潘米拉一路回家加入婚礼。小伙子心想此次正是奉迎未来岳父，搞定岳父那关的大好机会。
