林肯（丹泽尔?华盛顿 饰）由于公务致使满身瘫痪，他曾是享誉一时的侦察，破案无数，但自从他瘫痪后他便把自己封锁起来。此次，他由于一宗奥秘的杀人案，遭到了纽约差人的约请帮手，刚起头林肯是拒绝约请的，但看到案情后便对此案发生了情感。
纽约比来发生了奥秘的碎尸案，凶手还故意留下证据应战警方。巡查警艾米利亚（安吉丽娜?茱莉 饰）在最初一次巡查中发现了一具被支解的尸身，可是当她做出一系列大胆的猜测的时辰，同寅们都不愿理她，以为她不外是名没没无闻的巡警。
可是艾米利亚的敏感与勇敢遭到了林肯的欣赏，他要求与这名新手一路冲破案件。两人出奇的合作愉快，终究领会到了杀手是有暴力偏向的，而且杀人前城市周密的放置。经过他们的默契又能否成功缉捕变态杀人犯呢？
